Uncle Sam interrogates one of the Silver Ghost's minions. The Black Condor, and the Ray, battle the remaining dregs of the Silver Ghost's gang. The Black Condor, and the Ray, apprehend the Silver Ghost's gang. Uncle Sam learns nothing from the Silver Ghost's minion. The Black Condor, the Ray, and Uncle Sam flee from the police. The Doll Man designs a dampening device for the Human Bomb. The Freedom Fighters reassemble at Martha Robert's apartment. The District Attorney, David Pearson, assembles a task force to hunt the Freedom Fighters down.

Roberts suggests leaving the state of New York, to hide out in Rutland, Vermont. The Warrior Wizards prepare to summon the demon, Homilus, into the mortal realm. The Warrior Wizards abduct Roberts, to sacrifice in their summoning ceremony. The Doll Man worries over Robert's absence. The Black Condor, too, begins to suspect that Roberts is in jeopardy. The Doll Man searches for Roberts. Upon finding her discarded purse, the Doll Man tracks Roberts to the Warrior Wizards. The Doll Man uses his newfound telekinetic powers to send a distress signal to the Freedom Fighters.

The Freedom Fighters confront the Warrior Wizards. During the course of their battle, one of the Warrior Wizards is accidentally slain. The sacrifice of the Warrior Wizard is sufficient to summon Homilus. The Human Bomb attacks Homilus, only to discover that the dampening device is preventing him from using his powers. The Ray destroys the dampening device, allowing the Human Bomb to cut loose. Homilus possesses the Black Condor. The Ray subdues the Black Condor. Uncle Sam throws the Human Bomb into Homilus, destroying the demon. Roberts reports on the incident in Vermont. The Freedom Fighters hide in plain sight, by joining the Halloween parade of heroes.
