The Freedom Fighters, in their civilian identities, visit the Kolossal Karnival. Happy Terrill argues with Roy Lincoln, over who gets to take Sandra Knight on the roller coaster. Thomas Wright, and Uncle Sam, decide to prank the "Guess Your Age" teller. Darrel Dane, and Rod Reilly,get a bite to eat. Reilly tries to get Dane's mind off of a reporter, Martha Roberts. Dane lashes out at Reilly. Knight agrees to ride the roller coaster with both Lincoln, and Terrill. A mysterious figure detonates an explosive, destroying part of the roller coaster track. Dane, Reilly, Wright, and Uncle Sam respond to the crisis, as the Freedom Fighters. Wright, as the Black Condor, grabs Terrill out of the roller coaster car. Lincoln, spying the damaged track, tries to stop the car.

Lincoln is not strong enough to halt the speeding car. Uncle Sam stops the speeding car. Terrill, as the Ray, and the Black Condor, catch a couple of falling patrons. The Doll Man, and the Firebrand, chase down the bomber. Unbeknownst to the two heroes, they are in turn followed by the Batgirl, and the Batwoman. After a brief skirmish with the Doll Man, and Firebrand, the bomber is brought down by the Batgirl, and the Batwoman. The bomber has a decidedly alien appearance. The Doll Man, and the Firebrand, flee the scene, when the police arrive. The Freedom Fighters decide to go undercover at the Kolossal Karnival. After performing their various acts for the owner, Kathy Kane, the Freedom Fighters are hired.

After their first performance, Knight, Lincoln, and Terrill take another ride on the roller coaster. Unbeknownst to them, they are observed by the bomber. Knight, Lincoln, and Terrill confront the other Freedom Fighters. Knight, Lincoln, and Terrill try to force the other Freedom Fighters to ride the roller coaster. Uncle Sam wrenches loose fromTerrill's grip, then punches him in the face. Reilly tries to slap Knight out of her trance. Wright flips Lincoln. A brief battle ensues. Dane, and Wright, literally knock the heads off of Lincoln, and Terrill. Knight dissolves in Uncle Sam's hands. Dane, and Wright, as the Doll Man, and the Black Condor, investigate the roller coaster. Reilly, as the Firebrand, and Uncle Sam, confront Kane, and Barbara Gordon.
